Does #old #age mean wiseness? ЁЯШХ

While it’s true that many older people have lost a step when it comes to certain cognitivefunctions, they can take solace in the fact that they’re wiser now—wiser than they used to be, and wiser than the typical young person.  Right?

Well, maybe. It apparently depends a great deal on where you live. University of Waterloo researcher Igor Grossman and his colleagues recently reported the results of a study in which they interviewed random samples of Americans and Japanese about their reactions to conflicts between individuals. They discovered that, as expected, older Americans were wiser than young and middle-aged Americans.

The surprise came when the researchers analyzed the Japanese participants.  They discovered that “older age was not associated with wiseness among Japanese.” (👏 I support Japanese here)

Well, they should have studied Indians first for hilarious & colorful (😉) meaning of old age!!

(1) Brahmacharyam, (2) Grihastham, (3) Vaanaprastham, (4) Mumukshu / Mukthi-abheeshtam (Bliss-Seeking) are the Four stages of Life prescribed by the Indian Tradition for every Human-being.

🔷 Shashti-abdha-poorthi... on completion of 60 years age.... Completion of Grihastham.. Commencement of Vaanaprastham

🔷 Bheema-ratha-Santhi... on Completion of 70 years of age... as also Vaanaprastham-1st Stage.

🔷 Satha-abhishekam ... on completion of 80 years of age - Completion of Vaanaprastham-2nd and Final Stage... as well as the Commencement of Mumukshu (Seeker of Bliss / Leberation from Rebirths). This is the day of Commencement of Prayer to God... declaring that he has completed all his commitments on Earth and is free to leave the world/body towards Liberation from Rebirths... so to say Mukthi / Moksha / Bliss.

It all sounds very nice to read. But, as you know, reality is different.

*Why did our elders say #பெரியவங்க #சொன்னா #பெருமாள் #சொன்ன #மாதிரி ? Didn't they know old age doesn't necessarily mean wiser?*

*The clue to this question is, "முதுமை என்பது இரண்டாம் குழந்தை பருவம்". How do we make an adamant child eat? By calling him/her "நீ நல்ல பிள்ள தானே", "புத்திசாலி பிள்ள தானே", etc., Got it? 😀 By assigning the good qualities the child is lacking, we try to turn him/her good. In the same way, we equal old people with பெருமாள் and try to infuse godly qualities into them!!*

*Why பெருமாள்? Why not சிவன்? Because சிவன் is always silent and பெருமாள் is the one who does everything (வைணவ பெருமாள் = சைவ சக்தி). So, what is the use of a silent oldy? 😉 God and, that too, a hard-working God is what a family needs!!* 😂😂

While the technique used/advised by the elders sounds great, it also reflects the poor qualities of the creature called Man!! Man is what man is even at death bed!!! 😑
