🔯 Saadhanai doesn't mean remaining idle for hours 🔯

If you are on the path to discovering your Self (*), the following gem would prove to be an invaluable one! 👌

This gem was delivered by Saadhu Om Swaamigal, an ardent & fiery devotee of Bhagavaan Sri Ramanaa (who else could have delivered this gem? ☺) on 10/07/1978:

Many people believe that their progress in saadhanai can be measured by the amount of time they are able to remain without thoughts; but, remaining without thoughts for sometime is not the true aim of saadhanai. Its aim is only knowledge, which means clear awareness of oneself. What is the use of remaining for five hours without thoughts if all one's desires, anger and other such defects return during the sixth hour? One may remain for three hundred years without knowing the body; but if one does not know oneself, what benefit can one derive from it?

Therefore when we practice saadhanai, our aim should not be to remain without thoughts for as long as possible; but, should only be to know our self. We investigate "Who Am I?" in order to gain knowledge of our self. Having understood that all our problems are due to our incorrect knowledge "I am the body", we must strive only to obtain correct knowledge of our self.

(*) - Of course, "discovering your Self" is not a famous phrase. Equivalent & famous phrases are:

கைலாயம் அடைதல்
சிவனடி சேர்தல்
வைகுண்டம் அடைதல்
எம்பெருமான் திருவடி சேர்தல்
பரிநிர்வாணம் அடைதல்
சொர்க்கம் அடைதல்
பரலோகம் அடைதல்
முக்தி அடைதல்
ஞானம் அடைதல்
Salvation
Reaching the Kingdom of Heaven

💥 Birthdays are Deathdays 💥

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi was born on December 30, 1879. His birthday, however, is observed according to the Tamil calendar in Maargazhi when the moon is with the star Punarvasu.

When it was first proposed in 1912 to celebrate His birthday, Bhagavan expressed his objection in the form of the following two verses. Even so, his disciples were not deterred and the Jayanti day festival continues to be one of the great annual events at the Ashram.

1. You who wish to celebrate a birthday, inquire first who was born. One's true birthday is when one enters into the Eternal Being which shines forever without birth or death

2. Of all days on one's birthday one should mourn one's fall (into samsara). To celebrate it as a festival is like adorning and glorifying a corpse. To seek one's Self and merge in it is wisdom.

Till we attain certain maturity, till the Western venom has its effect, we think life is celebration, life is linear, we are in control of our life, etc., 😝 After a point, we begin to realize that life is a losing game, life is sorrowful, age is irrelevant, education is waste, experience has no meaning, etc., Crown jewel is when we realize we can't even pluck our own hair. 😂😂

If age is irrelevant, why did our ancestors said "பெரியவங்க சொன்னா பெருமாள் சொன்ன மாதிரி"? 😉

The clue to this question is, "முதுமை என்பது இரண்டாம் குழந்தை பருவம்". How do we make an adamant child eat? By calling him/her "நீ நல்ல பிள்ள தானே", "புத்திசாலி பிள்ள தானே", etc., Got it? 😀 By assigning the good qualities the child is lacking, we try to turn him/her good. In the same way, we equal old people with பெருமாள் and try to infuse godly qualities into them!!

Why பெருமாள்? Why not சிவன்? Because சிவன் is always silent and பெருமாள் is the one who does everything (வைணவ பெருமாள் = சைவ சக்தி). So, what use is of a silent oldy? 😉 God and, that too, a hard-working God is what a family needs!! 😂😂

😡😡😡

This is what Bhagavaan Sri Ramana Maharshi had to say about Lord Sri Raamar:

Ramana Mahashi recounts: “Rama and Lakshmana were wandering in the forest in search of Sita. Rama was grief-stricken. Just then Siva and Parvati happened to pass close by. Siva saluted Rama and passed on. Parvati was surprised and asked Siva to explain why He, the Lord of the Universe, being worshipped by all, should stop to salute Rama, an ordinary human who having missed his consort was grief-stricken and moving in anguish in the wilderness and looking helpless. Siva then said: “Rama is simply acting as a human being would under the circumstances. He is nevertheless the incarnation of Vishnu, and deserves to be saluted. You may test him if you choose.” Parvati considered the matter, took the shape of Sita and appeared in front of Rama, as he was crying out the name of Sita in great anguish. He looked at Parvati appearing as Sita, smiled and asked, “Why, Parvati, are you here? Where is Sambhu? Why have you taken the shape of Sita?” Parvati explained how she meant to test him and sought an explanation for Siva saluting him. Rama replied: “We are all only aspects of Siva, worshiping Him at sight and remembering Him out of sight.”
